Immerse In The
Wonders Of
Nature’s Kingdom
Wilderness Collections Craters Edge provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to truly immerse yourself in nature while indulging in the finest luxury comforts.
Thanks to the enclosed nature of the caldera, the Ngorongoro Crater is effectively its own ecosystem. You will awaken to the inimitable sounds of birds chirping, looking directly into the bowl of the caldera from the vantage point of your tented suite.
Harmonizing with the African landscape
Our lodge is meticulously designed to harmonize with the African landscape, providing an intimate retreat that is at one with its natural surrounds. The rugged canvas exteriors, stone pathways, wooden teak flooring and neutral colour palette of the décor all serve to echo the natural surrounds.
A breath-taking display…
As the sun sets over the crater rim, you can witness a breath-taking display of colours illuminating the sky, casting a magical glow over the surrounding landscape. After dark, the lodge offers prime stargazing opportunities, with the clear night skies revealing a dazzling array of stars and constellations. With the naked eye, you’ll be able to enjoy the full splendour of the southern hemisphere skies and the Milky Way. The stars Sirius and Canopus are usually easily visible too.

Weather
Dry Season – June to October
There is lots of sunshine on the Crater floor, with afternoon temperatures around 19°C/66°F, but the rim is often covered in mist, so it tends to be chilly and you’ll need warm clothing for game drives.
Wet Season – November to May
while October is usually sunny, if the short rains arrive early, they could start in late October. During the wet season, it gets warmer during the day with temperatures around 23°C/73°F on the Crater floor, but mornings are still cold.
November and December is ‘Short rains’ season. These rains are highly unlikely to impact your safari as it won’t rain all day. Showers usually happen in the afternoon. The short rains last about one month and can occur anytime in November to December.
March, April and May is ‘Long rains’ season. It often rains, but it rarely lasts the entire day. April and May could experience very chilly conditions due to cold fronts.
